OARF Officers Elected at Annual Meeting
2010 Officers Elected at OARF Annual Meeting
The OARF membership elected new officers and directors at its 2009 Annual Meeting & Holiday Luncheon on December 11, 2009, in Columbus, Ohio. Jim Schaum, former CEO of the Rehabilitation Services of North Central Ohio, stepped down following three terms as OARF president.
Elected to replace Mr. Schaum is Peter Bloch, CEO, Jewish Vocational Service, Cincinnati. Mr Bloch has been an OARF director since 2004, and was pro-active in OARF's recent state biennial budget lobbying efforts. He was also instrumental in facilitating OARF's sliding scale fee schedule several years ago, making membership more affordable for rehab providers.
Additional new OARF officers include Debbie Link, Knox Community Hospital, Vice President, and Debbie Dutton Lambert, Greater Cincinnati Behavioral Health Services, Secretary. Returning officers are Cora Hamman, Career Development Company, Treasurer, and Barb Emmets, Mt Carmel East Hospital, Vice President. Officers' terms are for one year. Ms Link and Ms Emmets also co-chair our Medical Rehab Division.
Members also elected candidates for 2 year director seats. Returning to an OARF director's seat after an absence of several years is Shawn Roll of Fairfield Medical Center's WorkLife Program. Mr Roll also manages OARF's "Outcomes Project", our CARF standards related Work Hardening and Work Conditioning benchmarking project.
Bob Comben, CEO, Vocational Guidance Services, was also re-elected for a two-year term, as was Debbie Link, both of whom have served as OARF leaders for multiple terms.
New to the OARF board of directors for 2010-2011 is Judy Braun, founder and CEO of COVA, and Nancy Dean, VP of Finance, & Director of Progress Industries, Center for Individuals & Family Services/Rehab Center of North Central Ohio. The Center for Individuals and Family Services recently merged with the Rehab Center of North CentralOhio in Mansfield.
The addition of Ms Braun and Ms Dean will bring greater reprepresentation from providers of services for persons with mental health disabilities, a timely addition with the advent of new Pathways and other RSC related programs focusing on mental health.
Board member Darlene D'Altorio Jones is serving the final year of a 2-year term. Ms. D'Altorio Jones most recently spearheaded and presented at our 2009 NGS-RAC Medicare Audit continuing education conference. She is a former OARF Medical Rehab Division chairperson.
Certificates of appreciation were presented to several members exiting the board during the Annual Meeting luncheon, including 2006-2009 president, Jim Schaum; Kelley Recker (former Medical Rehab Division Chair), Administrator, Physical Medicine & Rehab, St Rita's Medical Center; Dean Rallof (Industrial Rehab Division Chair), Director of Outpatient Services, St Rita's Medical Center; and Kelly Manns (Vocational Rehab Division Chair), Managing Director, Ohio Valley Goodwill Industries Rehabilitation Center Employment & Training Services.
Thanks to all who attended the Annual Meeting and help elect our new leadership team.
